Role Summary
Own the estimate. Run complete takeoffs, hard bids, and detailed budgets, drive vendor pricing, and deliver accurate, competitive proposals that protect margin. Lead estimate→operations handoffs and value-engineer scopes that win and build.
What You’ll Do
- Takeoffs & Budgets: Detailed material/labor takeoffs; precise job-cost builds; VE alternates.
- Bids & Proposals: RFQs, quote leveling, scope/qualifiers/exclusions; on-time submissions.
- Plan/Spec Scrubs: Identify gaps, risks, and cost impacts before numbers go out.
- Vendor/GC Relations: Negotiate distributor/sub pricing; maintain current market pricing.
- Cost Control/Data: Maintain unit pricing and databases; track commodity/labor trends with Purchasing.
- Handoff & Support: Lead turnover to field; support buyout, CO pricing, clarifications.
- Compliance/Docs: Tight documentation; align with NEC and safety standards; site visits as needed.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 3+ years electrical estimating (multifamily/commercial/residential).
- Working knowledge of the NEC; read one-lines/risers/plans.
- Tools: Bluebeam, PlanSwift (or similar), plus one of Accubid/ConEst/McCormick/EBM.
- Strong scope/proposal writing; RFI & change pricing chops.
- Solid Excel/MS 365; organized, deadline-reliable.
- Valid driver’s license.
Nice to Have
- 3+ years electrical supervisory or PM experience.
- BS in EE/CM/Business (or equivalent).
- Experience mentoring junior estimators; leading VE.
